Basilica Cistern in Istanbul, Turkey
Behind the Lens: Photographing the Basilica Cistern in Istanbul was quite a challenge. Built in the 6th century, this vast underground reservoir once supplied water to the Great Palace of Constantinople. The moment I stepped inside and saw its unique ancient atmosphere, I knew I had to capture it for my portfolio. The strict tripod ban made things difficult, as the low light conditions made handheld shots nearly impossible without excessive noise or blur. I had to get creative — finding stable surfaces to steady my camera and carefully timing my shots to avoid any movement. After some trial and error, I managed to capture a series of sharp and noise-free frames, which I used to achieve this final result.
